Our magical powers are coiled in the strands of the curls that make up the fro that we grow.  Our ancestors passed on their creativity of fashioning and styling our beautiful fro.  They taught us to love the beauty of our strands as we learned how to pamper each strand.  Our fro has been a symbolization of our power. We picked out our fros and it reached to the heavens as we marched for freedom and equality.

Our fros are worn in so many more creative styes now.  Nowadays we share our expertise with wonderful workshops featuring amazing products that can be used to keep your fro healthy and moisturized. Kissez of Nature-Lavender

Lavender is known for it’s very fragrant scent but also has many benefits.  Lavender is known for its antibacterial, antimicrobial, expectorant, stress-relieving, antiseptic and analgesic properties.

The plant is native to northern Africa and the mountainous Mediterranean regions, and thrives best in sunny, stony habitats. Today, it is grown throughout the United States, southern Europe, and Australia.

Lavender has been used for over 2,500 years. Ancient Persians, Greeks, and Romans added the flowers to their bath water to help wash and purify their skin. In fact, the word “lavender” comes from the Latin word lavare, which means to wash.

For Hair:

Essential oils are becoming increasingly popular due to their added benefits to your skin and hair. Lavender Essential oil is one of these oils that can promote hair growth and treat various hair problems like hair loss, alopecia, dandruff, etc. It can be diluted with a carrier oil to promote healthy hair and scalp.

Following are the ways lavender oil can be beneficial to your hair.

Controls Hair Loss:

Lavender oil is extremely effective in treating hair loss. This is because it cures insomnia, stress, anxiety and depression, which are the common causes of hair loss. Regular massage with this oil helps in controlling hair loss and improving hair growth by increasing blood circulation.

According to certain preliminary studies, lavender oil, when combined with other herbs, can help fight hair loss.

Treats Alopecia Areata:

Alopecia areata is an auto immune disease characterized by hair loss in patches. Dry scalp massaged with lavender essential oil helps in treating this condition as well as ensuring significant hair growth within a few months.  A therapeutic massage increases blood circulation to the scalp, thereby treating hair loss.

Treats Dandruff:

Lavender essential oil can help you get rid of dry itchy scalp and dandruff. Lavender oil can be can mixed with olive or almond oil and can be heated for about 10 seconds. Massage your scalp with this warm oil mixture and put on a shower cap. Wash off with a mild shampoo after an hour.

As A Good Conditioner:

Lavender can be used as a conditioner as well. You can prepare a hair rinse by boiling ¼ cup of dried lavender in 2 cups of water and adding a few drops of lavender oil. Rinse your hair with it and leave for 15 minutes. This will make your hair shiny and fragrant, and treat dandruff as well.

I use lavender oil in some of my hair and skincare products.  The benefits and the fragrance is a winner all around. Our ever so popular hair oil is created with lavender, rosemary & tea tree essential oils.  Visit my site to see this and other amazing, natural products. www.islandkissez.com
